Welcome to the first year of the adventures of USS Voager, standed 70,000 light years from home in unknown and hostile space. The year is 2371. Propelled into the Delta Quandrant by a powerful force that has killed half her crew, Captain Kathryn Janeway is forced to make a pact with outlaws: the crew of a ship of renegade Federation officers known as the Maquis. While tensions between the Maquis and Starfleet officers results in the occasional violent outburst, the crew face bigger and deadlier dangers in the form of spatial anomalies which threaten to destroy the ship on more than one occasion. Threats are also present from aggressive local races, including the war-like Kazon and the chillingly sinister organ-harvesters, the Vidiian Sodality. Local knowledge is essential, and Voyager is lucky to be joined by a local Talaxian trader and his partner, a female Ocampa, each of whom have hidden abilities. Another new crew member is a holographic Doctor, called into action when the previous physician was killed. Although his knowledge is superior, the Emergency Medial Hologram has much to learn if he is to be accepted as a 'real' member of the crew. Setting course for home, Captain Janeway and her crew embark on an exciting and challenging journey through unknown space. The voyage begins....
