Founded in 1946 in Upstate New York as the Syracuse Nationals, the team relocated to the City Of Brotherly Love in 1963, re-establishing professional basketball in Philly after the Warriors relocated from the city to San Francisco in 1962. Taking on the moniker of the 76ers, the club quickly went about winning its first NBA title, with Wilt Chamberlain's side lifting the Championship Trophy in 1967. Since then, the Sixers have endeared themselves to the basketball public with some of the most entertaining teams and players in NBA history. From the Wilt Chamberlain-led sides of the 1960s and the heroics of Julius Dr J Erving and Moses Malone during the 1983 Championship sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers, to the Charles Barkley era and the arrival of future league MVP Allen The Answer Iverson in 1996.
