John Paul Jones Turns 70

John Paul Jones was a prolific musical director and arranger, working with prominent sixties artists even before forming Led Zeppelin.

His impressive early resume lists work with hundreds of musical professionals including The Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield, The Everly Brothers and Burt Bacharach to name just a few.

In 1968 he formed Led Zepplin with Jimmy Page. Together they recorded 9 albums, 1 film score and undertook 26 tours.

Since 1980 his collaborators have included Paul McCartney, The Butthole Surfers, Foo Fighters and Sonic Youth. In 1993 he performed in the MTV Music Awards with Lenny Kravitz. He has added his touch to hundreds of recordings for studio albums, film and T.V. Sessions. His debut solo album Zooma was released in September 1999, followed by The Thunderthief in 2001.

Today, January 3, he celebrates his 70th birthday.
